Myrrh is a natural, amber-coloured gum resin extracted from small thorny trees, used as a perfume, incense, and medicine throughout history. The resin is steam-distilled to release an essential oil with a slightly woody, spicy fragrance. Our Namibian Myrrh, Commiphora wildii, is a near-endemic tree found only in the remote north-western deserts of Namibia. Its resin is naturally exuded during the hot, dry months and sustainably wild-harvested by OvaHimba women, who walk for kilometres across the desert to gather it. A tradition that has long provided them with their treasured natural perfume, and continues to support their families and communities to this day.

FRAGRANCE

Warm and balsamic, with a clean, slightly spicy citrus brightness. Turpentine-like at first, softening into an amber, woody base. Distinct from classic myrrh, with more lift and freshness.
